Meet Linda Lemon
The African bush is never still. A lion roars in the distance. Nearby, a herd of buffalo stirs, their heavy bodies shifting through the golden grass. This is the world that has shaped Linda Lemon’s art for over 45 years.
Linda Lemon is a Zimbabwean wildlife artist with an international reputation. Born in Masvingo, she grew up surrounded by the country’s striking landscapes. From an early age, she sketched the world around her, drawn to the contrasts of shadow and color that define Zimbabwe’s natural beauty. Her inspiration is to be one with the wildlife of Africa and pay homage to the most potent yet graceful African animals.
Linda lived in Zimbabwe during the bush war, staying in remote areas without electricity or running water. The wildlife around her—lions calling at night, elephants passing through—deepened her connection to the land and reignited her passion for painting
Now, with over 45 years of experience, Linda has exhibited worldwide. Her work has been featured in the Christie’s London Wildlife Auction, the Society of Animal Artists’ ‘Art & the Animal’ Exhibition and Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum’s ‘Birds in Art’ exhibition in the USA. She has also taken part in cultural exchange programs with the Elephant Rose Foundation, showcasing Zimbabwean art in Holland and Australia.
Despite her international success, Linda has always been rooted in Zimbabwe. She has recently returned for a residence at Nantwich Lodge in Hwange, continuing to paint from her studio while taking regular field trips into the bush for inspiration. Her work reflects a deep respect for wildlife and a desire to preserve Africa’s most powerful yet vulnerable species
“While quietly working in my studio daily, I periodically take field trips into the bush to reconnect and find inspiration. It feels good to return to my easel with fresh material and inspiration. I love that my clients take a piece of Africa home with them.” - Linda Lemon
Through her art, Linda brings the essence of Africa to collectors around the world, while supporting conservation efforts to protect the land and animals that have always inspired her. Linda is captivated by the contradiction of power and gentleness—a balance that fuels her art. Her work is driven by curiosity, a deep appreciation for nature’s brilliance, and a desire to celebrate its astonishing adventures on canvas.
