These pieces are about the joys and terrors of personal transformation--each piece a journal entry, a snapshot documenting an interior landscape as Red Fish navigate the waters of the unconscious, searching for what is missing, slowly illuminating the darkness.
I am exploring the idea of surface as skin--surface as a boundary that is created to interface with the world, concealing and protecting the essential inner processes that generate vitality. When finished, these "flat" pieces no longer are. The final surface rises up, beckoning, inviting the viewer to share a tactile experience: skin that longs to be touched.
